Often when we are pursuing something we are truly passionate about it can be hard to register that we may need to stop.
The desire to keep going, to push through any tiredness and to ignore the warning signs that perhaps we need rest is one we all have faced. But what if the true key to success is not in continuing and pushing through, but taking time to rest.
Learning to switch gears and to stop is often the best thing for us, letting us reset and renew. The true key is to learn when and how to do this before we reach that all too common point of exhaustion. Allowing ourselves to not get completely burnt out before we notice that we need to take care of ourselves.
A few wonderful ways to reset before you get overwhelmed are:
1) Taking an hour out of your work week to spend in nature. Being in green spaces is incredibly invigorating and calming.
2) Have a bath, or pamper yourself. Spending a little time on yourself during the work week can seem a little indulgent, but it so important! Put on a face mask, have a lovely cup of tea and listen to your favourite album. Reconnect to the things that make you feel a bit more like yourself.
3) Eat a nourishing meal. When we are racing at 100 miles per hour it can be easy to reach for a takeaway or rush down some leftovers. However, spending time to make a simple and healthy meal can give you more headspace, and making sure to enjoy it away from a screen will help to centre you.
