We hope you are having a wonderful start to your week. What a challenging few days it has been, the world seems a little chaotic and we are all still finding our feet in this ‘new normal’.
What we want to achieve going forward is providing a space of positivity, growth and creativity. Looking for ways to improve the lives around us and offer opportunity’s to step away from mainstream media and our day to day lives.
This does not mean we do not acknowledge the completely unprecedented and unique position we all find ourselves in. The world is going through a monumental period of great sadness and solidarity, but we want to offer you the chance to take a breath, step back and smile.
So here are a few fabulous ideas for ways to spend your time whilst Social Distancing.
1) Start baking!- One of our friends has begun to grow her own sourdough starter and by the end of the week will try her hand at her first loaf of Gluten Free Sourdough! You could even try make your own hot crossed buns or host a Great British Bakeoff in your house using whatever ingredients you have available to you.
2) Join in on a group fitness class on Instagram TV or Youtube.- Many wonderful fitness, yoga, pilates or barre studios are offering free classes on their online platforms. Take time out of your day to move your body with others and release those endorphins! (The Body Coach is also offering workouts for children). We will link a few at the bottom of this article.
3) For those of you with little ones, why not take them on a treasure hunt or a safari! - Dot toys around the house and if you have an outdoor space (and it isn’t raining!) and take your kiddies on a tour. See if they can spot it and make the noise of the animal, if they are older you could even share a fact about the animal and get them to write it down in their safari journal.
4) Host a trivia night- Now we are sure you have already heard about HouseParty. But this is a fabulous app that is enabling group chats and games nights for people around the world. Get a group of your friends (up to 8 users can log in to a single chat) and play a range of games from Charades to Trivia.
5) Set up a ‘Family Challenge’- Over the next few weeks lay out a few challenges or tasks that each family member has to achieve. These could be to learn how to say hello in 5 languages, bake a cake, grow spring onions/herbs/leeks etc, or even making your own comic book. Each day set aside an hour to dedicate to your chosen task and check in with each other on your progress.
What amazing ideas have you seen or implemented to bring variety and fun into your life? Let us know and we would love to start a sharing system where we can all learn from each other in this time.
Much love,
H+K
