I am sure you have heard about impressive CEOs of huge companies or magazine editors explaining their morning routine. Waking up at 4am to work out, meditate, journal, do yoga, eat breakfast and more. They then cram their day full but still manage to make a 6pm reservation at a top restaurant and run an empire.
Well, that’s great! But the thing is it does not suit us all. We have all heard the terms morning bird or night owl. And this, in our case at least, is so true. Some of us are more suited to morning routines whilst others can while away the night working. The thing that is key to remember is we are all different, and it is imperative that we create and curate a routine that suits our needs and also how our body and mind operates.
When creating a routine it is important to focus on three things:
1) What do you enjoy doing?
2) What is it you want to achieve?
3) How is the best way to use your time?
Once you can answer these three things it can become very easy to create a schedule and routine that suits you perfectly. If you love having a quite cup of coffee in your bed in the morning then pop that in. If nothing gets you ready for the day like a short run before the sun comes up then make sure you do that. However if you need to sleep in and find a moment of comfort before your day begins then prioritize that. It can be so easy to fall into a ‘cookie-cutter’ mindset in that you feel that you need to emulate the schedule and lifestyle of those you look up to.
We are all so different and so wonderfully diverse, that it is important to note that you need different things to Oprah or Elon Musk.
Take some time this week to check in and see how you perhaps could alter your routine in order to serve yourself better.
Much love,
